THE WESTERN YIMKHIUNG HOHO

FORMATION AND HISTORY:

The Western Yimkhiung HOHO was formed in the year 1992. The WYH is a branch of the main apex body- The Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC). The WYH was concieved with a view to assist the apex body; with all issues pertaining to the Yimkhiung people residing and living in Dimapur, Chumukedima, Kohima, Naga United village and some Yimkhiung villages that have been established in Dimapur and Peren districts. The following villlages come under the jurisdiction of the WYH. i) Showuba (ii) Loyirü (iii) Tokishe (iv) Jalukie Jinso and six Unions (Yimkhiung Arih ako). (i) Dimapur Yimkhiung Union (DYU) (ii) Chumukedima Yimkhiung Arih ako (YAC) (iii) Diphubar Yimkhiung Union (iv) Naga United village Yimkhiung Union (v) Yimkhiung Union Kohima (vi) Yimkhiung Union Mokokchung. Like the YTC, the WYH is an NGO based organization whose primary duties are to protect, preserve and take forward the culture, customs and practice of the Yimkhiung people living in these areas. They deal with myriad problems being face by the people and Yimkhiung Community in the western part of Nagaland. All issues requiring the attention of the WYH is firmly and timely dealt with. The WYH officials are selected basing on capability, quality, integrity and merit. The officials render service on voluntary service-seeking no salary or remuneration. They perform selfless, dedicated and yeoman service for the Yimkhiung people living in western part of Nagaland.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE WYH:

• To protect and preserve the rich culture and indelible custom of the Yimkhiung Tribe.

• To maintain cordial, friendly, amiable and peaceful relationship with other Naga tribes.

• To promote strong Unity, Peace, Camaraderie and sense of brotherhood among the Yimkhiung Community.

• To look after the welfare and grievances of the Yimkhiung Community.

• And any other issues to promote the well being, development and growth of the Yimkhiung Community.
